Introduction

Created by Atlassian – DACI (Driver, Approver, Contributor, Informed) is a framework that helps delivery teams make effective and efficient group decisions.

We first encountered DACI when shipping a unified React front-end for Atlassian. It has since become one of our most reliable frameworks for resolving major decisions within a project delivery lifestyle.

When to use a DACI

Most day-to-day decision making occurs via standard communications and sparring. But sometimes the factors influencing a decision are many and conflicting, or the stakes for choosing one path over another are really high.

When you can’t come to a path forward, DACI can help you unblock a way forward that ensures all considerations have been factored in, and all the right stakeholders have been informed.

DACI Resources

For more information about who to get involved in a DACI, and instructions on how to run the framework, see Atlassian’s DACI documentation. For an example of a Thinkmill DACI, see our example from the read-only fields design process.
